Mustangs use Team Effort to Take Down Lehigh Carbon 83-55

The Montco Men's basketball team improved to 7-2 on Saturday, after a big win against the Lehigh Carbon Community College Cougars. Once again, Montco's defense, especially early on, lead them an 83-55 victory over the Cougars.
Montco came out swinging in the first half, picking up big stops on the defensive end and executing their team-oriented gameplan on offense. The Cougars' energy was deflated from the tip, as the Mustangs refused to give them easy buckets and took advantage of every possession, not settling for bad shots, nor poor decision-making. The Mustangs led 42-22 after the first-half buzzer sounded, giving the Mustangs all the momentum in the second half. They were able to close it out handily, picking up their 7th win of the season.
Matt Compas put together a nice game, finishing with 14 points and 6 rebounds in only 19 minutes of play. Malachi Owens was all over the glass, pulling down 18 rebounds for the Mustangs (11 offensive rebounds) to pair with his 7 points. Off the bench, Cris Dinolfi – who has seen his role on the team increase greatly in the past two games – added 10 points, 5 rebounds, 2 steals, and a block. Every Mustang contributed in the scoring department in this matchup.
Montco will use these past two games to prepare them for a Thursday, December 8 matchup against the Camden County College Cougars (4-6) at home. Tip-off is at 7 p.m.
