Bio

Denny Surovec begins his 9th season as Head Coach of the Montgomery County Community College Men’s Basketball program. He enters the 2013-14 campaign with an overall record of 71-42 with the Mustangs, and his teams have qualified for post-season play in each of his four seasons. His Mustangs are also one of only four teams to qualify for the NJCAA Region XIX playoffs in each of the past two seasons.

In Surovec's initial season of 2009-2010, the Mustangs won their first 8 games en route to an 18-8 record and 2^nd place conference finish. His 2010-2011 team followed that up with an impressive 24-5 season and again placed 2^nd in the league.  The 2011-2012 season saw the Mustangs join the NJCAA for the first time.  The Mustangs' strong first half of the season, including a win over nationally-ranked Ocean County College, assured the programs its first NJCAA Region XIX playoff berth, but a slew of injuries impacted the remainder of the season. The 2012-2013 campaign saw the Mustangs return to their winning ways with a 17-12 record and second consecutive NJCAA Region XIX playoff appearance.

Coach Surovec has 20 years of coaching experience, including the last 15 at the college level. Before coming to Montgomery County Community College, he served five seasons as the Head Men's Basketball Coach at Delaware Valley College. He also spent time as an Assistant Coach at Delaware Valley College, Neumann University, and Eastern University. Coach Surovec currently resides in Jamison, Pa., with his wife, Erin, and two All-Star children, Rylee and Trey.
