The Montgomery County Community College Mustangs men's basketball team lost 85-123 to the NJCAA Division I Harcum College Bears Tuesday.
The Mustangs presented a strong showing against the Division I opponent but found themselves behind by 17 points after the first half. In the second the Mustangs played aggressively in hopes of making up the deficit. With just 6:00 left in the game, the Bears were only ahead by 14 points. However, the Mustangs could not pull out a comeback and the Bears ultimately took the win with a 123-85 victory.
Jah'lil Williams led the Mustangs with a double-double of 30 points and 10 rebounds. He also notched five assists and six steals in the effort. Shaquille Graham and Tyreek Magruder followed with 16 and 13 points respectively. Greg Mendrzycki tallied ten points and five rebounds and Dexter Shy rounded out the team's top performances with a total of six rebounds.
"Our guys played hard all night," commented Mustangs Head Coach Denny Surovec. "It was a good test to prepare us for playoffs."
The Mustangs will face off against the Owls of Union County College in the quarterfinal round of the NJCAA Region 19 playoffs on Monday, February 25, 2013. Game time is 6:00 p.m.
