Mustangs Show Pieces of Progress, Puzzle Still Forming

The Mustangs returned to the court Thursday night for their second match of the season, this time against an 8th ranked Northampton Community College squad. While the Spartans ultimately came away with the win, the Mustangs showed clear improvement from their opener, hanging close throughout the first set and refusing to let the score discourage them as the match went on.

The Everitt twins were a force at the net, delivering powerful kills that kept Northampton's defense on edge. Much of that success was set up by Despina Kourtidis, whose crisp sets gave the Mustangs consistent opportunities to attack. In addition to the heavy swings, the team also found points through smart, controlled tips that caught Northampton off guard and showed their growing versatility on offense.

Though the result didn't tilt their way, the Mustangs played with more poise and confidence, staying engaged in each rally and battling against one of the more talented teams on their schedule. The progress from just one game to the next was clear, and the pieces are beginning to fall into place for a squad still finding its rhythm.

The Mustangs will be back in action Saturday when they travel to Lackawanna for a tri-match against  Lackawanna and Delaware Technical Community College. With signs of  continued improvement, it may only be a matter of time before they begin breaking through and picking up sets... and very soon, matches.
