Game Recap: Volleyball Earns 3-0 Win over Phantoms

The Mustangs volleyball team traveled to Delaware County Community College to earn a 3-0 win over the Phantoms Tuesday. 

The Mustangs focused on tough serving and quick sideouts as they drove home three strong matches, winning 25-16, 25-7 and 25-8.

"I feel like the girls accomplished all the goals we set for the match this evening," said Mustangs Head Coach Misti Volpe. "I am very proud of our solid performance."

The Mustangs finished the evening with 29 kills. Sophomore setter Nikki Reichert led her team with 22 assists and five aces. Fellow sophomore Briana Rodriguez led on offense with nine kills and a hitting average of .583. She was followed closely by freshman Kendall Gazzo who earned seven kills and an average of .375. Reichert and freshman Liz Herezi also added five kills each to the team's tally.

With the goal of tough serving in mind, the Mustangs walked away from the evening with 27 aces. Leading in aces were freshmen Niki Gass with seven and Chelsea Knowles with six.

The Mustangs will travel to take on rival Northampton Community College Thursday. Northampton was the only team the Mustangs split with last season during regular conference play.
