Game Recap: Volleyball Defeats Bucks 3-0

The Mustangs volleyball team broke away from the gate and couldn't be stopped, winning last night's first home game of the 2012 season. 

The team won in a resounding three sets, with scores of 25-12, 25-6, and 25-8. The evening showcased the Mustangs' powerhouse offense as the team totaled 29 kills and 27 aces, topping off the night with a .490 hitting average.

Setter Nikki Reichert led the team with 22 assists while fellow sophomore Briana Rodriguez led in kills with nine. Kendall GazzoLiz Herezi and Alex Griffin added seven, five and four kills respectively. Gazzo and Herezi also notched two aces apeice.

Freshman defensive player Niki Gass came into the second game off the bench and rallied for an exciting seven ace run for the Mustangs. 

Mustangs Head Coach Misti Volpe was pleased with her team's performance and mentality during the competition. "The girls did a very good job of focusing on precision in the second and third matches. We were able to reduce our errors by more than half by the end of the night. By continuing to play with this mindset, I will expect similar outcomes in our future games."

Tuesday September 18, the Mustangs will travel to face off against EPAC and NJCAA Region 19 competitor, the Delaware County Community College Phantoms.
