Women's Volleyball Sweeps Tri-Match

Blue Bell, Pa. - The Montgomery County Community College women's volleyball team hosted the Delaware County Community College Phantoms and the Luzerne County Community College Trailblazers in a home tri-match this weekend.

In a best of three competition, the Mustangs galloped past the Trailblazers, winning two in a row 25-15 and 25-14. Brianna Musselman led in the first match with seven kills, four aces and a hitting percentage of .400. Emily Mayer followed closely behind with six kills and a .667 hitting percentage. Steph Angelucci came away with ten assists and four aces, while Danielle Timbario earned five aces. Mel Angelucci played a flawless passing game at 100% and the team averaged 88%.

Going into game two against the Phantoms with one win under their belts, the Mustangs really turned on the heat winning 25-16 and 25-3. The team totaled 24 aces in the match, led by Steph Angelucci with seven and Corey Trego and Mel Angelucci with five apiece. Bethany Murray also contributed three aces in the victory.

Coach Misti Volpe was ecstatic about her team's defensive performance. "The team averaged 100% on defense, passing perfectly each dig. It was very well done."

The Mustangs are now 3-1 overall and 3-1 in the EPCC. Next the Mustangs will host the Community College of Philadlephia Colonials on Tuesday, Sept. 21 at 7:00 p.m.
