Bio
Coach Obed Arango Hisijara is a Mexican visual artist, adjunct
professor for the Fine Arts Center and head men's and women's
soccer coach for the Mustangs. He holds several state and national
track championships from Mexico in 100, 400, 800 meters dash and
relays 4x100 and 4x400 meters (1984-1991). Moreover Coach Arango
played for the Borregos Salvajes (Rams) of Monterrey Technological
Institute, in the Mexican university soccer first division.
In Mexico, Coach Arango was a tenured Professor of Communication at
UNAM, the National Autonomous University of Mexico, where he also
combined his academic activities with his role of assistant coach
for the soccer and track teams. In the United States, Coach Arango
obtained his Regional soccer certification from the National Soccer
Coaches Association of America in 2003. He has been coaching in the
US for 11 years. In 2003 he formed and coached the master degree
adult soccer team, Palmer FC, at Eastern University. From
2003-2005, his team played and reached the finals in the
Philadelphia's first adult division league, which provides playing
opportunity to adult players.
Coach Arango also coached several teams for Lower Merion Soccer
Club (2002-2006) and the Pumas Soccer Girls traveling team of
Whitpain Recreational Association (2007-2013). Along with assistant
and manager Colleen Foglia, Coach Arango has been developing soccer
talent in girls, aiming to "form excellent people and excellent
athletes" while preparing them for competition on varsity high
school teams. In addition Coach Arango is board member of the
Center for Culture, Art, Training and Education CCATE, a non-profit
of Montgomery County that provides young adults and adolescents
opportunities in the areas of education, art and sports.
Coach Arango as a visual arts professor and coach at Montgomery
County Communtiy College, who believes that competitive sports
discipline at the college level provides students the skills
necessary to succeed in life. His goal is to develop a successful
Mustangs male and female soccer program that sets up a new
generation of successful students, athletes and professionals.
