Mustangs Fall to Nationally Ranked Vikings

The nationally ranked Ocean County College Vikings traveled to Montgomery County Community College Tuesday to battle the Mustangs for the top seed in this week’s NJCAA Division III Region 19 playoffs. Ranked third in the nation in Division III, the Vikings looked to hold their first place seeding while the Mustangs tried for an upset.

But the Mustangs efforts were not enough as the Vikings came on strong scoring first in the ninth minute of play and maintaining offensive control throughout the first half. By half time the Vikings led the Mustangs 2-0 and followed up their solid 45-minute performance with three more goals in the second half. The game concluded in a 5-0 win for the Vikings. The loss sets the Mustangs back but not out of the NJCAA Division III Region 19 playoffs. they are now seeded third.
