Harris Scores 30 in Win Over Hawks

Harrisburg, Pa. - The Montgomery County Community College women's basketball team defeated the Harrisburg Area Community College Hawks 65-46 Tuesday.

After a two-hour bus ride, the Mustangs got off to a slow start, finding themselves down 2-10 after the first two minutes of play. The team worked hard during the first half of the game to recover from the faulty start, but found themselves up by only one point, at 20-19 by the break.

Head Coach Kelly Donohue changed up the Mustangs' defense for the second half, where the team slowly built momentum. Led by aggressive drives from sophomore forward Mercedes Harris, the Mustangs forced Hawk turnovers and took control of the game. With four minutes left, the Mustangs had secured a solid lead over the Hawks, pulling ahead for the 19-point win.

Harris racked up 30 points in the victory, while teammates Janay Winston and Kristy Ragbir notched 14 and 11 respectively.

The Mustangs are now 6-1 overall and 4-0 in the Eastern Pennsylvania Collegiate Conference. Next, the team will face Central Pennsylvania College on their home court at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 2.
