Mustangs Beat Hawks 64-56
Blue Bell, Pa. – The Montgomery County Community College Mustangs women’s basketball team defeated the Harrisburg Area Community College Hawks 64-56 on Saturday Jan. 23, 2010.
Led by Mercedes Harris (Norristown) with 30 points, Janay Winston (Phoenixville) with 12, and Jennifer Kopsie (Plymouth Whitemarsh) with 9, the Mustangs cruised to victory over the Hawks to notch their 10th win of the season.
The Mustangs dominated the majority of the game, with the exception of a slight stumble early in the second half. The Hawks were able to come within 4 points of the Mustangs but the effort was not enough to pull ahead and steal the win.
In addition to the point leaders of the evening, guard Lauren Zoltek’s (Lansdale Catholic) performance also contributed to the success of the Mustangs, as she posted 4 points, 3 assists, 3 blocks, and 2 steals.
The Mustangs are now 10-6 overall and 8-3 in the EPCC. Next the Mustangs will travel to Lehigh Carbon County College to take on the Cougars at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday Jan. 27, 2010.
