Mustangs Beat Phantoms 63-45
Blue Bell, Pa. – The Montgomery County Community College Mustangs women’s basketball team dominated the Delaware County Community College for the second time this season.
The Mustangs beat the Phantoms 90-19 earlier in the season, but with some midseason roster additions the visiting team proved to be markedly improved.
This time around the Phantoms won the opening tip off and scored first against the Mustangs. The Mustangs pulled ahead from the slight deficit and maintain the lead for the rest of the first half, sending the Phantoms into the second half trailing 32-16.
In the second half of the game the Mustangs turned up the heat, topping the Phantoms by 19 at one point. But the Phantoms kept the Mustangs from running away with the game completely, closing the gap to 12 points at the 11:00 mark. However, the Mustangs ultimately sealed the Phantoms’ fate with a final score of 63-45.
Top scorers for the Mustangs were Mercedes Harris (Norristown) with 20 points, Janay Winston (Phoenixville) with 14, and Kaleigh Prough (Methacton) with 11. Harris and Janay also posted strong rebounding numbers with 14 and 16 respectively.
The Mustangs are now 7-4 overall and 6-2 in the EPCC.
