Colonials Slide Past Mustangs

The Montgomery County Community College Mustangs women’s basketball team fell to the Community College of Philadelphia Colonials 66-73 in a tight back and forth game Tuesday evening.

Taking the lead a number of times, it seemed that the Mustangs were going to pull through with a win over the Colonials. But the Colonials battled their way back from each point deficit with solid shooting from Edna Marant and Yasmeane Harris. The Colonials dealt their final terminating blow for the Mustangs with just two minutes left on the clock and stepped ahead to secure their victory with a 7 point run up to the final buzzer.

Leading the Mustangs in points and rebounds with a 20-14 double-double was freshman forward Mercedes Harris (Norristown). Janay Winston (Phoenixville) and Lauren Zoltek (Lansdale Catholic) also contributed to the Mustangs’ effort with 10 and 8 points respectively.

With this loss the Mustangs women’s basketball team now holds a record of 6-3 overall and 5-2 in the Eastern Pennsylvania Collegiate Conference.
