Mustangs Split Double Header with Bulldogs
Paramus, N.J. � The Montgomery County Community College Mustangs women�s softball team lost 0-4 and won 8-7 against the Bulldogs of Bergen Community College on Saturday, Apr. 24, 2010.
In game one the Mustangs played well but were unable to muster up any runs. Janay Winston (Phoenixville) went 3-for-3 and Mary Thornton (Wissahickon) had two hits, but the Bulldogs were able to hold home plate, preventing the Mustangs from scoring. With four runs earned at the end of the game, the Bulldogs took the 4-0 victory.
In game two Winston led the charge going 4-for-4 with six RBIs, including a home run and a triple. Thornton also continued her offensive streak, earning two hits and one RBI and scoring two runs. Katelyn Mullen (Collegeville) added to the Mustangs� offensive fire, banging out three hits and scoring two runs. By the end of the game, the Mustangs came out on top for an 8-7 victory over the Bulldogs.
The Mustangs softball team is now 12-21 overall (4-16 NJCAA Region XIX Division III). Next the team will travel to Sussex County College for a double header on Sunday, Apr. 25. Game time is 12:00 p.m.
