Mustangs Fall to Cougars in Second Meeting
Schnecksville, Pa. � In their second meeting of the season, the Montgomery County Community College Mustangs women�s softball team lost 7-11 and 6-11 to the Lehigh Carbon Community College Cougars Wednesday, Apr. 7, 2010.
The games were a marked improvement for the Mustangs, who lost 0-11 and 3-16 to the Cougars just four days earlier on April 3.
In game one Janay Winston (Phoenixville) banged out two hits and four RBIs, including a three-run home run. Teammates Stef Lechner (Lansdale Catholic) and Emily Wright (North Penn) contributed two hits apiece.
The Mustangs earned another home run in game two, when Samantha Reeves (North Penn) knocked out a two-run home run. Other highlights from game two include a triple from Lechner, two hits from Katelyn Martin (Boyertown), and two RBIs from Mary Thornton (Wissahickon).
The Mustangs softball team is now 4-8 overall (0-4 NJCAA Region XIX Division III). Next the team will host the nationally ranked Brookdale Community College Jersey Blues in a double header on Thursday, Apr. 8. Game time is 3:00 p.m.
