The Mustangs have only one tie this season in their overall record. That tie came during an intense match with Delaware County Community College on October 10th, where, despite a few close calls by the Phantoms, neither team was able to score. The Mustangs got another opportunity to right that wrong on Tuesday, when they traveled to Delco for the rematch between the Phantoms and the Msutangs.
This game started similarly to the last. Neither team was able to break the 0-0 tie in the first half.
Then, early in the second half, the Phantoms committed an offense in the box that lead to a Mustang penalty kick. With the game on the line, who else would you send up to take a penalty kick but the sophomore captain, Elias Gehman (Christopher Dock). Gehman blasted the ball past the keeper and gave the Mustangs a 1-0 lead.
From there, the Mustang tenacious defense took over. Led by sophomore captain Conner Kristoff (Upper Moreland), the defense held strong and didn't allow the Phantoms to score for the rest of the game. Keeper Zachary Kovatch (FR, Boyertown) recorded 5 saves during the defensive battle.
With this win, the Mustangs only need one more win to qualify for NJCAA Region XIX playoffs. They'll have four more games to get that win, including a rematch against Northampton Community College on Thursday.
