Haney Back In The Fold As Men's Coach

BLUE BELL, Pa. - Montgomery County Community College Athletics has announced the hiring of Tom Haney as the new Head Coach of the Mustangs Men's Soccer program.

"We are fortunate to have the future of our men's soccer program in the capable hands of Tom Haney," said Athletics Director Bruce Bach. "Tom brings an unparalleled energy and enthusiasm to the table. He is committed to connecting with our incoming freshmen and working with returning players to help them achieve great things both on the field and in the classroom."

Haney returns to Montgomery after a one-year hiatus following three seasons at the helm of the women's team. He takes over a men's team that finished 8-4-2 overall in 2014, but was ousted by County College of Morris in the first round of the Region XIX Tournament.

With more than 30 years of experience coaching and playing competitively, Haney is a seasoned professional who has dedicated his time to training players and coaches from the intramural to premier levels throughout our region. He has been a longtime coach for Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer Association's Olympic Development Program and coached several premier level male and female club teams where several of his players were recruited by NCAA Div. I, Div. II and Div. III schools. Tom, among other coaching licenses, holds USSF C License and an NSCAA Advance National Diploma.

"As a coach I am committed to continually educating myself to be a more efficient coach and provide the best learning opportunity for the soccer athletes," Haney said. "My goal is to prepare and promote student-athletes to both play soccer and be academically successful at a four-year educational institution.

"Playing college soccer is a means to prepare for life. It is easy to correlate the characteristics of a good team and a good working relationship. To create excellence on the field the athletes must work hard, be committed and focused, train to be problem solvers on the field while remaining calm, be responsible and respectful to themselves, teammates with everyone associated with the soccer program and be committed to the goals of the program both on and off the field."
