Game Recap: Men's Soccer Notches Another Tie

The Montgomery County Community College Mustangs men's soccer team added another tie to the books with a 1-1 draw against the Bucks County Community College Centurions Tuesday.

The Centurions came on strong in the opening plays of the game, showing the Mustangs some real offensive pressure. The Mustangs responded well with a strong defensive effort to stave off the attack and the team was able to generate forward momentum of their own.

Fifteen minutes into the game, second year sophomore player Joe Mitschintercepted a clear to one-time a 20 yard shot into the back of the net. The goal put the Mustangs ahead 1-0 , but the Centurions were able to answer with a goal of their own just before half time.

The teams went into the second half tied 1-1 and both generated a number of solid scoring chances. However, at the end of regulation play, neither team was able to secure the win.

The teams battled through two overtime periods but the game remained scoreless and ultimately ended in a draw, bringing the Mustangs' record to 0-0-3.

Head Coach Matt Giordano is looking for a win in the team's upcoming game against Harrisburg. "I am proud of the team for pushing through a slump and keeping Bucks on their heels for most of the game. It seems as though we have been pretty unlucky in our offensive 3rd this season but I hope that luck changes Saturday at Harrisburg. Our guys need a win."
