Mustangs Secure OT Win Over Roadrunners

Sewell, N.J. - The Montgomery County Community College Mustangs defeated the Gloucester County College Roadrunners 3-2 in overtime Tuesday.

At the start of the game the Roadrunners came out hard and scored in the first ten minutes of the game. The strong start rattled the Mustangs who were able to regroup and take control of the play. At 36:10 Ali Ali was fouled in the box and scored on the ensuing penalty shot to tie up the game 1-1.

After the half the Mustangs built on their first half momentum to score a go-ahead goal just five minutes into play. Mustangs midfielder Andrew Klein won the ball on the right side of the field and knocked the ball up to Kas Fazliu, who was able to blow by a defender and score on a shot from the 18 yard line.

Up 2-1, the Mustangs held strong, dominating the game and outshooting the Roadrunners 19-10. With less than ten minutes left in play, a defensive mistake by the Mustangs allowed a Roadrunner goal, which tied up the match and sent the teams into overtime.

The Mustangs entered the overtime period with fury, creating multiple scoring chances. Finally with three minutes left, second year starter JJ Natale executed a textbook corner kick to Nick Igbokwe who headed the serve into the net for the win.
