Men's Soccer Shuts Out Bulldogs
Blue Bell, Pa. - The Montgomery County Community College Mustangs men�s soccer team notched their first shut out of the season in a 3-0 victory over the Bergen County College Bulldogs.
Phil Martin was in goal for the Mustangs, making eight saves to secure the shut out. Also contributing were the team�s back field players, who played hard, intelligent and organized defense.
On offense, the Mustangs created a number of impressive scoring opportunities. Ali Mohommed Ali opened up the scoring for the Mustangs in the eight minute of the game, when he scored on a pass from Jay Natale. Following Ali�s goal was a goal by Ryan Lafferty, who headed in a corner kick from Michael Wambold. Rounding out scoring for the Mustangs was Alex Russell, who stole the ball from a Bulldogs defenseman to knock it in and secure the 3-0 win.
The Mustangs outshot the Bulldogs 16-13 and improved their record to 2-4-1 overall and 2-4-1 NJCAA RXIX Division III. Next the Mustangs will travel to Union County College on Saturday, Sept. 25. Game time is 1:00 p.m.
