Mustangs Defeat Owls 86-80
The Montgomery County Community College Mustangs hosted the Union County College Owls in NJCAA action Saturday.
The Mustangs took an early 7-3 lead but the Owls were able to keep up to finally overtake the Mustangs at 13:00 in the first half. The Owls mustered up some momentum to maintain roughly an eight point lead for the majority of the first half. Closing in on half time, the Mustangs surged back to send the teams into the break Mustangs 41, Owls 45.
In the second half the Mustangs continued closing the gap on the Owls until a three-point shot from sophomore Jeff Hurst put the Mustangs ahead 56-55. The lead bounced back and forth between the teams until the last two minutes of the game. In the final minutes the Mustangs were able to secure the lead and ultimately win 86-80.
Jah'lil Williams led the Mustangs with 20 points, seven rebounds and five steals. Hurst followed with 14 points and Shaquille Graham notched 12 points.
