Mustangs Cruise Past Jaguars 92-55

Blue Bell, Pa. – The Montgomery County Community College Mustangs men’s basketball team defeated the Johnson College Jaguars 92-55 on Saturday Jan. 16, 2010.

The Johnson College Jaguars stepped up to the opening tip off against the Mustangs big in height but small in numbers. The Mustangs were able to post to the scoreboard first with a 3 point shot from Dominic Oliver (Cheltenham) but the Jaguars answered right back. In back and forth action the two teams battled neck and neck for the first 10 minutes of the game.

However with a roster of only 5 players, the Jaguars were unable to keep up pace with the well-conditioned Mustangs. Towards the end of the first half the Mustangs began to pull away, sending the Jaguars into the second half of the game trailing 28-50.

The Jaguars made up some ground in the beginning of the second half but once again ran out of steam. The visiting team found themselves at a 33 point deficit with 11:00 left in the game and ultimately lost by 37, giving the Mustangs their 14th win of the season.

All but one member of the Mustangs squad earned points in the game and Oliver and Adam Jones (North Penn) led the team with 16 points each.

The Mustangs are now 14-4 overall and 12-1 in the EPCC. Next, the team will travel to Bucks County Community College for an 8:00 p.m. match up against the Centurions on Tuesday Jan. 19, 2010.
