Montco Earns Sweep vs Bulldogs to Improve to 6-5 on the Season
Game 1
Charlie Levy collected three hits in six at bats, as Montco Mustangs defeated Bergen CC Bulldogs 21-13 on Friday. Levy singled in the seventh inning, doubled in the first inning, and singled in the seventh inning.
Montco Mustangs collected 15 hits and Bergen CC Bulldogs had 15 in the high-scoring affair.
Montco Mustangs got on the board in the top of the first inning after Petyton Borchelt singled down the right field line, and Nico Gomez-Vera tripled to center field, each scoring one run.
Bergen CC Bulldogs took the lead, 5-2, in the bottom of the third thanks to doubles by Reymon Paulino, and Justin Mercado.
Montco Mustangs flipped the game on its head in the top of the fifth, scoring five runs on three hits to take the lead, 7-5. The biggest blow in the inning was a single by Gomez-Vera that drove in two.
Montco Mustangs scored 11 runs on seven hits in the top of the seventh inning. Korbin Wale singled, scoring one run, Levy singled, scoring two runs, Brett Minnich singled, scoring one run, Borchelt was struck by a pitch, driving in a run, Gomez-Vera was struck by a pitch, driving in a run, Chris Tomlinson singled, scoring three runs, Wale singled, scoring one run, and Levy singled, scoring one run.
Sean Crawford earned the win for Montco Mustangs. The righty gave up five hits and four runs over four innings, striking out six and walking three. Kevin Soltys took the loss for Bergen CC Bulldogs. The hurler went five and one-third innings, allowing seven runs (six earned) on six hits, striking out five and walking five. Reece Holloway stepped on the hill first for Montco Mustangs. The starting pitcher gave up seven hits and five runs over three innings, striking out four and walking one. Mitchell Barajas tossed one and two-thirds innings of shutout ball for Montco Mustangs in relief. The righty allowed zero hits, striking out none and walking none.
Montco Mustangs accumulated 15 hits in the game. Borchelt drove the middle of the lineup, leading Montco Mustangs with three runs batted in. The cleanup hitter went 2-for-5 on the day. Wale, Gomez-Vera, and Minnich each collected multiple hits for Montco Mustangs. Montco Mustangs had patience at the plate, piling up 11 walks for the game. The infielder went 4-for-5 on the day. Paulino, Dom Maucione, and Tyler Mertz each collected multiple hits for Bergen CC Bulldogs.
Game 2
Nico Gomez-Vera drove in four runs on two hits to lead Montco Mustangs past Bergen CC Bulldogs 7-6 on Saturday at Montgomery County Community College. Gomez-Vera hit a home run to center field in the third inning, scoring three runs, and singled in the fourth inning, scoring one.
Montco Mustangs built a 5-run lead in the fourth inning and then held off Bergen CC Bulldogs's charge. Bergen CC Bulldogs closed the gap by scoring on a tag up, a single, a double, and an error.
A single by Chris Tomlinson put Montco Mustangs on the board in the bottom of the first.
A home run to left field by Chris Merrill gave Bergen CC Bulldogs the lead, 2-1, in the top of the third.
Montco Mustangs made the score 5-2 in the bottom of the third after Tomlinson singled, scoring one run, and Gomez-Vera homered to center field, scoring three runs.
Carver Perrone opened the game for Montco Mustangs. The hurler surrendered eight hits and four runs over five innings, striking out six and walking two. Dom Maucione started on the hill for Bergen CC Bulldogs. The hurler gave up 10 hits and seven runs over six innings, striking out four and walking two. Mitchell Barajas appeared in relief for Montco Mustangs.

Ryan Bevins collected three hits in four at bats, as Montco Mustangs defeated Bergen CC Bulldogs 16-11 on Saturday at Montgomery County Community College. Bevins singled in the fourth inning, singled in the fifth inning, and singled in the second inning.
Montco Mustangs collected 13 hits and Bergen CC Bulldogs had 13 in the high-scoring affair.
Bergen CC Bulldogs jumped out to the lead in the top of the first inning after Reymon Paulino doubled, scoring one run, and an error scored two runs.
Bevins singled to center field, which helped Montco Mustangs tie the game at three in the bottom of the fourth.

Cesar Peguero opened the game for Bergen CC Bulldogs. The hurler gave up six hits and four runs over four innings, striking out four and walking six. Tomlinson and Lucas Shaffert each appeared in relief for Montco Mustangs.
Montco Mustangs amassed 13 hits in the game. Minnich provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Montco Mustangs with four runs batted in. The right-handed hitter went 1-for-4 on the day. Brenden O'Brien and Petyton Borchelt each collected multiple hits for Montco Mustangs. Gomez-Vera led Montco Mustangs with three walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, tallying 10 walks for the game. Borchelt and Bevins each stole multiple bases for Montco Mustangs. Montco Mustangs stole eight bases in the game.
Bergen CC Bulldogs accumulated 13 hits in the game. Number nine hitter, Tyler Mertz, showed the depth of Bergen CC Bulldogs's lineup, by leading them with four hits in five at bats. Jesus Batista and Mercado each drove in two runs for Bergen CC Bulldogs. Paulino and Trevor Isaiah Eastman each collected multiple hits for Bergen CC Bulldogs. Bergen CC Bulldogs had a strong eye at the plate, piling up nine walks for the game. Paulino and Maucione led the team with two bases on balls each. Bergen CC Bulldogs didn't commit a single error in the field. Wilfred Morillo had the most chances in the field with seven.
Montco Mustangs welcome Middlesex College on Tuesday for their next game.
