Montgomery County Community College Honors Despina Kourtidis on National Girls & Women in Sports Day

Blue Bell, PA — February 4, 2026 — Montgomery County Community College (Montco) proudly celebrates the 36th Annual National Girls & Women in Sports Day (NGWSD) by recognizing Despina Kourtidis, a standout member of the Montco Women's Volleyball program, as a National Girls & Women in Sports Day Honoree.
 
National Girls & Women in Sports Day, celebrated annually on February 4, is a nationwide event powered by the Women's Sports Foundation. NGWSD honors the achievements of female athletes while also recognizing the power of sports to inspire leadership, confidence, and lifelong success among girls and women.
 
Despina Kourtidis exemplifies the spirit of NGWSD through her dedication, competitive excellence, and leadership both on and off the court. As a key contributor to the Mustangs' volleyball program, Kourtidis has demonstrated resilience, teamwork, and a commitment to academic and athletic excellence. Her recognition highlights not only her individual accomplishments, but also the growing impact of women's athletics at Montgomery County Community College.
 
"National Girls & Women in Sports Day is about more than competition—it's about opportunity, empowerment, and breaking barriers," said Athletic Director Kelly Dunbar. "Despina represents the values we strive to instill in our student-athletes, and we are incredibly proud to honor her as part of this national celebration."
