Volleyball was back in the HSC Main Gym on Tuesday, taking on the Luzerne County Community College Trailblazers. The Mustangs took down Luzerne 3-1 during a tri-match at Lackawanna College. Since then, the improvement from the Mustangs was clearly on display.
The Mustangs proved that on Thursday when they took the first set 25-21. The second set was an even greater show of might for the Mustangs. They took the second set 25-4, barely giving the Trailblazers any breathing room. Finally, in the third set, the Mustangs took their foot off the gas for a little bit, but still used the momentum to win 25-11.
Volleyball has now won seven straight matches and is competing for a top four spot in Region XIX. Miljana Vukoslavovic (SO, Serbia) and Julia Kuneck (FR, John Hallahan) have continued to dominate for the Mustangs. During the Luzerene match, they combined for 21 kills and 21 assists, with Kuneck just barely edging out Vukoslavovic in both categories. They also combined for 17 digs and 10 service aces, this time Vukoslavovic getting the upper hand. Regardless, both players are certainly looking for a spot on the All-Region team.
The Mustangs will get to put their seven game win streak to the test when they travel to Harcum College on Thursday for a matchup against the NJCAA Division II Bears.
