On Saturday, the volleyball team made the trip out to Lackawanna College for a tri-match agains the Falcons and Luzerne County Community College.
First came the NJCAA Division II Falcons. The Mustangs started off strong with a win in the first set, but the Falcons answered right away. The teams would trade sets until the score sat at 2-2 heading into the fifth and final set.
The fifth set typically goes to 15, however, you must win by two. This would turn out to be a crucial concept as the teams tied the score at 15-15. Finally, the Mustangs took the final two points to win the fifth and deciding set.
Next for the Mustangs came the Luzerne County Community College Trailblazers. Montgomery wasn't fazed by the five set match they had earlier and came out in the second match just as hot. In fact, their best performance was in the first set with a 25-14 win.
However, the Trailblazers wouldn't back down that easily, tying the score at 1-1 heading in to the third set. However, Montgomery's strength was just too much for Luzerne to overcome and the Mustangs finshed with a 3-1 victory.
The Mustangs are now on a 5 game win streak since losing to Harrisburg Area Community College in their season opener. Miljana Vukoslavovic (SO, Serbia) has been the stat leader for most of those games, and these two were no different. Vukoslavovic wracked up an incredible 49 kills between both matches.
The Mustangs will head back home on Tuesday, where they'll look to defeat Bucks County Community College on Spirit Night.
