NEWTOWN, Pa. - Courtney Gill posted her second double-double of the season as the Mustangs overcame some sloppy play to defeat Bucks County Community College 3-1 (23-25, 25-9, 25-19, 25-15) in Region XIX action Thursday evening.
"The first set was a real wake-up call for our team," said Head Coach Rita Rivera. "We gave up a lot of opportunities tonight and they took advantage."
The Mustangs dominated the Centurions in the previous match on Sept. 10 as Bucks managed no more than 12 points in any set. This time, Montgomery dropped the opening set -- losing 25-23 -- before rallying to win the next three to secure the team's eighth win of the season.
Gill notched 11 kills on Sept. 10 and doubled that number on Thursday with 22 while adding 10 digs. Colby Shackelford led the team with 14 digs, while Victoria Biggins registered 36 assists and added 9 aces.
"We can and will learn from this and be ready for Lackawanna College on Tuesday," Rivera said.
Montgomery improves to 8-2 overall and 8-1 in Region XIX.
The Mustangs head out to Scranton on Tuesday to face Division II Lackawanna College in a 7 pm match.
