Inaugural Match Vs. RCGC A Tune-Up For Season

DEPTFORD, NJ - Women's Volleyball emerged victorious in a scrimmage vs. the first-year team from Rowan College at Gloucester County on Thursday evening.

RCGC's Athletic Department welcomed women’s volleyball as a new intercollegiate sport offering this fall, and the Mustangs were glad to provide a pre-season test for the newest Roadrunners team.

After dropping the first game, Montgomery rallied for three straight wins to take the match, 3-1.

"It was a good test for our girls," said second-year Head Volleyball Coach Rita Rivera. "It's tough starting a new team in any sport, but the Roadrunners are in good hands with Coach (Tony) Carpenter."

The 2015 Mustangs return one player from last year's squad - middle hitter Colby Shackelford.

There's room for additional players, and Coach Rivera's players will be canvassing the Central Campus in Blue Bell looking for interested student-athletes when classes begin Sept. 2.

The regular season opens with a 7 pm home match vs. Lehigh Carbon Community College on Thursday, Sept. 3, followed by home matches on Sept. 8th, 10th and 12th. | JOIN THE TEAM!
