Recap: Mustangs Split Tri-Match With VFMC & Harcum

The Mustangs Women's Volleyball team split their home Tri-Match on Saturday and stand at 7-3 overall on the season.

The Mustangs started the day with some strong play against Valley Forge Military College, winning the first set by a convincing 25-8 count and followed that up with a 25-10 win in the second set. But the Trojans of Valley Forge did not go quietly, as they made the Mustangs work hard for a 25-20 win in the third set. Valley Forge led the Mustangs for a good portion that contest, but the Mustangs stormed back for the win.

Anna Mitchell led the way for the Mustangs with 10 kills and 6 serving aces. Mary Plunkett was credited with 10 digs, while Colby Shackelford delivered 6 serving aces

After opening with a straight-set win over VFMC, the Mustangs closed out the day with a straight-set loss to Harcum College. The Mustangs fought hard -- dropping the first two sets, 25-14 and 25-19 before losing the third set, 25-7.

In the latter match, Mitchell led the way with 7 kills. She also led the way with 11 digs, followed by Mary Plunkett with 7.

The Mustangs will be back in action on Thursday with a doubleheader at Lackawanna College.
