The NJCAA R19 Division II Harcum College Bears hosted the Montgomery County Community College Mustangs Tuesday September 17th. The outcome of the match was a quick three-set win for the Mustangs, with game scores of 25-4, 25-4 and 25-7.
"Our Mustangs came focused and ready to play. They really put pressure on the opposing team," said Coach Volpe.
The team averaged a .410 hitting average, and was led by first year player Maggie Lesinski out of the middle, who collected eight kills on 10 attempts for a .800 average. Alex Griffin, Courtney Gill and Kendall Gazzo chipped in three kills apiece as well. Setter Jenn Casatelli collected nine assists for the evening. The serving offensive effort was led by second year Liz Herezi who served up 10 aces for the night. First Year players Courtney Gill and Krysta Wellington added six apiece as well.
The Mustangs' defensive effort was strong all around with 13 perfect passes on serve receive and 13 digs. Griffin, Lesinski and Gazzo anchored the team putting up solid blocking efforts.
The Mustangs will be hosting a special matchup Friday evening at 7:00 p.m. The Montgomery County Special Olympic team will be participating in play against the Mustangs.
The next NJCAA play will take place on Saturday September 21st, as the Mustangs travel to faceoff against conference rivals Northampton Community College and Lackawanna Community College.
