Game Recap: Volleyball Takes Out Manor in Three-Game Win

The Montgomery County Community College Mustangs traveled to Manor College in Jenkintown on Tuesday evening to face off against the Blue Jays in their first away match. They finished a quick three-game set with scores of 25-11, 25-3 and 25-15.

"The Blue Jays have some good talent this year on their team and brought a lot of energy to the court,"  said Mustangs Head Coach Misti Volpe. "We had to make key serving choices to maintain our leads."

Offensively the Mustangs were led by first year outside Jodi Hillsinger, who collected eight kills and averaged a .636. She was followed by sophomore Kendall Gazzo and freshman Courtney Gill who both averaged a .250. As a whole the Mustangs collected 27 aces for the night. Second year player Alex Griffin led with eight, followed by Jenn Casatelli with six, and Gazzo with five. Casatelli also pushed out 16 assists for the evening.

Defensively the team was led by freshman Julie Hunsberger, who tallied four digs and four perfect service receptions. Gill, Casatelli and Maggie Lesinksi added two digs apiece to spread the effort across the board.

Next, the Mustangs travel to Delaware County Thursday evening to compete in regular conference play against the Phantoms.
