Women's Soccer Falls in Tough Overtime Game

Bucks County Community College came to The Proving Grounds on Saturday to take on the Mustang women's soccer team. The game was a must-win game for the Mustangs, who needed to stay above .500 either overall or in region to qualify for the NJCAA Region XIX playoffs.

The first half saw plenty of opportunities for the Mustangs. Sever times the Mustangs were one-on-one with the keeper and just missed the net. The Mustangs probably had their best chance when they received a penalty kick for a foul in the box. Dre Meyers (FR, Springfield) blasted a shot that just barely touched the crossbar and deflected over the net. Even with their opportunities, the Mustangs were'nt able to convert in the first half.

The second half was much more competitive, with both teams have fairly equal opportunities. The Mustangs again had several one-on-one opportunities with the keeper, missing all of them. Neither team could find any ground, meaning that the game would be sent to overtime.

Finally, in the 99th minute, the Centurions crossed the ball to the center of the Mustang box, where they placed a shot off of the left crossbar that scored, giving them the 1-0 victory.

This loss officially eliminates the Mustangs from postseason consideration. They'll play their final game of the season at Harrisburg Area Community College on Thursday.
