Women's soccer began their season with a win against Lehigh Carbon. However, a bigger test would come on Thursday as they took on a formidable Northampton Community College squad at The Proving Grounds.
What would prove to be a game of ever changing conditions, the match ended up being a difficult one for both teams. This was the first game the Mustangs had played on turf this season, so the pace took a bit of time to get used to.
Also, the first half of the game was played in hot temperatures, peaking in the high 80s. In the beginning of the second half, the weather shifted dramatically as a small rainstorm passed through the field. The rainstorm brought the temperature down a lot and sped up the already fast paced game.
With the shifting weather conditions, neither team was able to adjust or score, bringing the game to an overtime situation. Finally, late in the first overtime, the Spartans were able to grab a goal off of a redirection and win the game 1-0.
The Mustangs will look to rebound from the loss on Tuesday, when they take on their rival Bucks County Community College.
