1st Mustang Cup Fundraiser A Success

BLUE BELL, Pa. - The recently held 1st Annual Mustangs Cup featured teams from The Ukrainian Club, FC Bucks, Central Bucks East, and Norristown.

"This tournament is a testament to quality of soccer talent in the Montgomery County area," said new Women's Head Coach Ben Winderman. "I expect next year's event to be even bigger and better."

Tremendous passing led to many highlights of both goals scored and spectacular saves.

In the Championship match, Ukrainian Iskra, led by coach Kyle McGrath and phenom goalkeeper Miranda Royds, outlasted Audrey Anderson's FC Bucks squad, 1-0, to capture the Mustang Cup Championship T-Shirts.

Mustangs players Devon Beck and Alison Henning also participated in the event, guest-playing on CB East and Norristown respectively.

The event raised more than $300 for the Women's Soccer program at Montgomery County Community College, and is the first in a tradition to follow under Winderman, who organized the event over the last month.

Tournament MVP honors went to Miranda Royds, pictured here robbing Norristown's Lisa Noce of a sure goal. Royds will be a junior at Hatboro-Horsham High School in the fall, and is one of the area's top goalkeeper prospects to play at the next level.
