On Saturday, the Montgomery County Community College Mustangs met the Bergen Community College Bull Dogs for the weekend match up on their home field.
The Bulldogs came out of the gate running on all cylinders. Less than eight minutes into the game they put the ball in goal. At 17:00 they put up another point on the scoreboard to go up by two.
However, the Mustangs did not remain scoreless for long. Three minutes later the team was able to regain its composure and put one in as Kelsey McDevitt made a pass to Mayra Loaiza, who shot a blazing ball into the back of the net.
The teams went into the second half with the Bull Dogs up 2-1 but in the 59th minute, the Mustangs tied it up with a goal from sophomore captain Taylor Sejda. The Mustangs also posted a strong defensive performance, keeping the Bull Dogs at bay and sending the game into overtime.
Standing at 2-2 after 90 mintues of play, the Mustangs and Bull Dogs surged through 10 minutes of overtime without a change in score. It was finally in the 102nd minute of play that the Bull Dogs were able to sneak one by goal keeper Trisha Sewak for the 3-2 victory.
