BLUE BELL, Pa. - Division II Valley Forge Military College held a 10-point advantage after one quarter and didn't look back in overwhelming the Mustangs, 63-40, in Region XIX action Thursday evening.

The home team managed just 8 points in the first quarter and 5 in the third quarter in dropping its second straight.

The Trojans scored 18, 17 and 16 points over the first three quarters in cruising to their second consecutive win.

Jessica Spano led the Mustangs with 10 points, while Hiba Elrhanjaoui and Alison Henning added 8 and 7 points, respectively. As a team Montgomery connected on 17 of 55 shots and 6 of 17 from the foul line.

Valley Forge placed three players in double figures while hitting on just over 37 percent of its field goals, making 26 of 69 shots. The Trojans converted 11 of 23 free throw opportunities.

Valley Forge's Shana Owens led all scorers with 21 points and 16 rebounds.

"There were lapses in our play, and we can't have that against a very good team," said Head Women's Basketball Coach Francine Roseman. "We need a full four-quarter effort."

Roseman and Co. are back on the hardwood on Saturday, Dec. 12 when they host Region XIX powerhouse Ocean County College in a 12 noon tip-off.
