Recap: Women Dominate In Win Over Luzerne

BLUE BELL, Pa. - Montgomery's women's basketball team dominated in all phases from the opening tip in cruising past Luzerne County Community College, 72-30, Thursday night in Region XIX action.

Jessica Spano and Linda Sobeck each recorded double-doubles as the Mustangs earned their second win of the season and first at home.

The Mustangs exploded for 27 points in the second quarter to take a commanding 44-16 lead into the locker room at halftime.

Spano scored a game-high 23 points and 17 rebounds to go along with 8 steals. Sobeck chipped in 15 points and 11 rebounds while adding 6 steals and 2 assists.

Emma Hagel and Hiba Elrhanjaoui added 16 and 10 rebounds, respectively, in what was a 71-rebound effort for the Mustangs. Meanwhile, Hagel and Naomi Jasienski combined for half of the team's 12 blocked shots.

"It was great to get contributions from up and down the roster," said Head Women's Basketball Coach Francine Roseman.

Luzerne, which remains winless on the year, was held to single-digit scoring in each of the four quarters. The Trailblazers also hurt themselves with 44 turnovers. The Mustangs limited their mistakes, committing just 15 turnovers.

Prior to the Thanksgiving break, the Mustangs visit the Community College of Philadelphia on Tuesday in a 6 pm tip-off vs. the Colonials.
