Game Recap: 4-Game Skid Snapped With 48-36 Win Over CCP

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - Losers of four straight games, a determined Mustangs women's basketball team walked onto the gym floor at the Community College of Philadelphia on Tuesday evening. They walked off winners, topping the Colonials 48-36.

Interim head coach Francine Roseman tweaked the starting lineup and it paid off as Montgomery earned its second win of the season.

The Mustangs trailed 18-17 at halftime before dominating play in the second half.

Freshman guard Tayler Nicholson came off the bench and led all scorers with 14 points, while sophomore forward Bryanna Lacey chipped in 12 points.

Montgomery shot over 58 percent from the floor and converted 2-of-4 shots from behind the arc.

The Mustangs also out-rebounded the Colonials, 49-42, with Bria Chamberlain and Alexandria Somers leading the way with 9 apiece, followed by Kim Pessoa and Lacey, who each pulled down 8 rebounds. Colby Shackelford added 7.

India Williams dished out 5 assists, while Evelyn Ogden provided sound defense on both ends of the court.

"These girls have stayed positive and were rewarded tonight," Roseman said. "It was a great effort by all the girls."

The Mustangs women's basketball team will look to make it two in a row when they travel to Valley Forge Military College on Dec. 2 for a 6 PM tip-off.
