The Montgomery County Community College women's basketball team lost 34-49 to the Cougars of Lehigh Carbon Community College.
The Cougars dominated the first half leaving the Mustangs with a 14-30 deficit to battle in the second. The Mustangs got behind by more than 20 with ten minutes remaining in the game, but were able to bounce back. However, even after a strong run towards the end of play, the Mustangs were unable to catch up completely and walked away with their first loss of the season.
Freshman Francesca Monterosso led the team in points with 10, followed by freshmen Mallory Mugnier and Samantha Kidd who posted nine each. Sophomore Dayna McCrewell turned up big on the boards with nine rebounds.
Mustangs Head Coach Kelly Donohue saw positive signs in the loss. "I was proud of how hard we played. It was good to get the first game under our belt."
