After losses to Bucks in their first two home games of the season, the softball team needed to bring some joy to the home crowd. They had the opportunity to do that in a matchup against Lehigh Carbon Community College on Saturday.
Unfortunately, Lehigh shut the crowd down in the first few innings. They took a 5-0 lead after three innings and held on for the win in game one. Pitcher Allie Squartino (FR, Perkiomen Valley) had two hits in the loss, but no Mustang was able to make it home in the 9-0 loss.
The Mustangs were determined to make the second game a better game than the first, but the Cougars came out just as strong.
After a 13-0 run by the Cougars, Montgomery finally got on the board when Molly McCarthy (FR, Souderton) brought Joan Kuneck (FR, John Hallahan) home in her first game. Despite finally scoring a run, the Cougars were too much for the Mustangs to handle and Lehigh Carbon eventually took game 2, 14-1.
The softball team will have another chance to get a home win when they take on Ocean County College on Tuesday.
