Softball was excited about Tuesday's doubleheader against Buck's County Community College. Despite a losing record during last year's club season, the team had managed to go 2-2 in their first four games. Bucks would prove to be a tough challenge, but the team was ready to go come game time.
The Centurions jumped out to a quick 4-0 lead before Claire Stoll (FR, Coventry Christian) gave the Mustangs their first run. However, the Centurions woke up in the sixth and seventh innings, scoring 11 combined runs. The Mustangs were able to bring in four more runners, but were unable to keep up with the powerful bats of the centurions.
In the second game, the Centurions knew they couldn't underestimate the Mustangs and batted in an incredible 13 runs in the first two innings. Montgomery kept their heads up and continued to fight. Margaret Kraus (FR, Souderton) scored two runs after her first two ABs and the Mustangs were able to get back five runs in the first and second innings.
However, they would only be able to add one more before the mercy rule kicked in in the fifth inning. The second game finished with a final score of 14-6. Despite the losses, the Mustangs were able to score runs and looked much improved from last season.
Softball will take a short break, but will be back when they take on Lehigh Carbon Community College at home on Tuesday, April 18th.
