Montgomery's young softball team continues to get better with each game. Despite dropping both games of their previous series, the Mustangs managed to split Wednesday's double header.
In the first game, Montgomery quickly grabbed a 8-2 lead, thanks to 2 RBIs and a run from Shannon Lee. Bucks would answer with four runs in the 6th, but Montgomery fought right back, matching with four of their own. Those four runs ended up being vitally important, as Bucks added another four runs in the top of the seventh. However, the Mustangs didn't panic and, despite the comeback that Bucks was putting together, managed to grab the three outs that ended the game.
In the second game, it was Bucks who started off strong. The Centurions got off to a 3-0 lead in the third, before Montgomery could answer with a run of their own from Haylie Brass. Unfortunately, several errors in the fifth and sixth innings would lead to a lot more runs for Bucks and the Mustangs were unable to recover. The game ended in the 6th innning due to the ten-run rule and Bucks took a 14-1 victory.
The fact that Montgomery took one game from Bucks is still a sign of improvement, as they were outscored 19-4 in their previous matchups. They move to 3-5 overall and will play at home again on Thursday, when they take on Lackawanna College in another double header.
