Opening Day for the Mustangs Softball team finally arrived Thursday, March 30th. Without a doubt, there was no better way for them to kick it off than with a conference win against the Luzerne County Community College Trailblazers.
Ending with a final score of 14-5, the Mustangs raced away with the win. Sophomore First baseman, Anna Morgan #12 (Wissahickon/Liberal Studies) managed to bring home 3 runs.
Contributing to the teamwork, several other players also brought in 2 runs each. The following players included Freshman Catcher, Anna Robinson #5 (Plumstead Christian Academy/Hospitality Management), Freshman Second Baseman, Haylie Brass #4 (Upper Dublin/Liberal Studies), Sophomore Right Field Emma Hagel (Norristown/Business Administration), and Sophomore Shortstop Alison Henning #9 (Norristown/Liberal Studies).
The Mustangs were up 15-13 in the second game until it was halted in the 4th.
Freshman Catcher Anna Robinson #5 commented, "We just had fun," adding that game two was a bit more of a grind. "It was great to finally compete and see what we actually look like in a game situation," concluded Robinson.
The Mustangs will host the next double header event in a rematch aginst the Luzerne County Community College Trailblazers on Sunday, April 2nd. The games will begin at 12:00 p.m. and at 2:00 p.m. in the afternoon.
The Mustangs are members of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region XIX and the Eastern Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (EPAC).
