Men's soccer was riding a 3-game winning streak into Saturday's game against Bergen Community College. Saturday's game was the second soccer game of the day and the third game happening duing Saturday's Youth Appreciation Day. The women's soccer team had just won their first game of the season, so excitement and expectations were high for the men's team.
The first half was a defensive battle. The defense, led by Frank Dadpavar (SO, American School of Valencia) and Eric Podrost (SO, Abington) made sure that nothing broke through. Despite a bit of pressure from the Bulldogs late, the score remained 0-0 at the half.
However, Bergen came out strong in the second half. They grabbed two goals in five minutes and put the Mustangs on their heels. From that moment on, Montgomery broke down and never recovered. Bergen would add two more goals and finish with a 4-0 win.
This is the first loss of the season for the Mustangs and snaps a 3-game winning streak. Men's Soccer will be back in action on Tuesday at home, when they take on Bucks County Community College.
