Game Recap: Manor Wins 5-0 over Mustangs

The Montgomery County Community College Mustangs faced off against the nationally ranked no. 10 Manor College Blue Jays Tuesday.

The first half of the game, the Mustangs displayed "smart, organized, strong and fast" soccer, according to Mustangs Head Coach Obed Arango. The team worked well on the field, holding the powerhouse Blue Jays to only one goal, which was scored off a quick surprise return on a Mustangs corner kick.

The Mustangs kept up strong play through the first 15 minutes of the second half, but at the 60:00 mark, a back pass was mishandled leading to another Blue Jays goal. As the Mustangs' starters began to tire, the team slowly unraveled, allowing three goals in the 65th-75th minutes play. After the brief stumble, the Mustangs were able to recover and complete the game without allowing another goal.

"The Mustangs displayed discipline, understanding and intelligence in how to play against one of the top teams in the country," said Coach Arango. "I don't think the score reflects the level of play we achieved, as we were able to play equal to Manor for 70 of those 90 minutes." The Mustangs will take the field again Saturday at home against Harrisburg Area Community College. Game time is 12:00 p.m.
