The Mustangs men's soccer team lost to the Manor College Blue Jays 1-5 Tuesday.
The Mustangs rode the momentum of the goal to take the Blue Jays into the second half at a 1-0 deficit.
But in the second half, the Blue Jays rallied and came out very strong. Ten minutes in, the team was able to tie up the game at 1-1. A few minutes later the Blue Jays were awarded a penalty kick and scored to pull ahead 2-1. The Mustangs tried to regroup and get back the lead but the goals ignited the Blue Jays, who managed to score three more times.
Mustangs Head Coach Matt Giordano said of the effort, "We had a good plan going in the game that seemed to me working. When Manor scored the equalizer I still thought we were playing well. However, the call for the Blue Jays' penalty kick, and the resulting go-ahead goal really changed the tide of the game. With a good team like Manor, it's tough to keep a lead and even harder to get the lead back once your down. I think my guys played well despite the score. I have to give credit to Manor, they are a quality side."
