The Montgomery County Community College Mustangs basketball players are honoring veterans in their first annual Veterans Appreciation Night, held Thursday, February 6, 2014.
Both the men's and women's squads will play in front of local Montgomery County veterans, in a salute to their brave service to our community and our country. There will be a special performance of the National Anthem, as well as a number of perks available to the veterans in attendance.
The Mobile Vet Center will be parked in the gymnasium lot for the duration of the event and will be open to all veterans who wish to take advantage of its services. Mobile Vet Centers focus on services that help veterans make the difficult transition between military and civilian life.
The Mustangs athletes and coaches are ecstatic to be playing for local veterans from the community.
"We here at the College are thankful and appreciative to the veterans and would like to extend them a warm welcome to attend Veterans Appreciation Night," said Assistant Men's Basketball Coach Patrick Boylan. "The teamwork and leadership we teach our guys is modeled on the values and standards of our armed forces. We couldn't be more proud to provide a fun and exciting evening for our hometown heroes."
The women's basketball team will play Atlantic Cape Community College at 5:00 p.m. and the men's team will play Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology at 7:00 p.m.
