The Montgomery County Community College Mustangs men's basketball team lost to the NJCAA Region 19 second ranked Delaware County Community College Phantoms Thursday.
The Mustangs got off to a rough start with the Phantoms, falling behind by more than 20 points early in the first half. After revving their engines the Mustangs were able to keep pace with the Phantoms, closing out the first 20 minutes of the game trailing 37-56. In the second half, the Mustangs did not fare much better. Although the team had bursts of dominance, they suffered a 34-56 gap, resulting in a 71-112 loss to the Phantoms.
Bright spots in the Mustangs' offensive performance came from Shane Isett, who scored 20 points, and Nick Demeno, who tallied 19. In an all around effort, second year sophomore Dexter Shy posted nine points, 14 rebounds and four assists.
The Mustangs are now 10-8 overall and 8-4 in the conference. Next the team will travel to Bucks County Community College on Tuesday, Feb. 4th for a 7:00 p.m. match up against the Centurions.
