The Montgomery County Community College Mustangs men's basketball team defeated the Delaware County Community College Phantoms 88-69 Tuesday.
The Mustangs came out strong against the Phantoms, playing a solid first half to take a 43-26 lead at half time. In the second half the Mustangs took the lead by more than 30 points before losing almost half the advantage with ten minutes to go. However, the Mustangs pushed through, outscoring the Phantoms 45-43 in the second hafl to secure the 88-69 victory.
Leading the Mustangs in points was sophomore Darnell Clowney with 19, followed by Greg Mendrzycki with 14, Jah'lil Williams with 13 and Darryl Foye with 11. Clowney also led the team in rebounds with six. Teammate Shaquille Graham led the team in assists with six as well.
Williams will be honored at Saturday's home game against Luzerne County Community College, for scoring his 500th career point Tuesday evening. The point came off a layup Williams made with 4:13 left on the clock.
