The Mustangs men's basketball team defeated the NJCAA Division II Salem Community College Oaks Thursday night.
The game started off well for the Mustangs who held a solid lead early on but play soon evened out as the Oaks kept the score with three points for the majority of the half. The Mustangs gave up the lead with just over three minutes left but by the end of the first half the game was all tied up 39-39.
In the second half the game remained tight, with each team trading the lead back and forth countless times before the Oaks pulled ahead by six with just three minutes left. The Mustangs pushed to close the gap, getting within three points at 69-66.
In the final two seconds of the game the Mustangs pulled out the 71-70 victory with a scorching three point shot from sophomore Jah'lil Williams.
Sophomore Omar Askia led the Mustangs in points with 14, followed by Jah'lil Williams with 13, Darnell Clowney with 12 and Greg Mendzrycki with 11. Dexter Shy and Dimitri Burton led the team in rebounds with five each.
